We hope you enjoy this video update of us talking about all the things we’ve been up to for the past two weeks as we prepare to sell our home and move to Scotland.
Painting
We painted the entire interior of the home, except my office, and the garage doors. Working together, we got it done in about 4 days, working hard from 8:30am until 5pm each day.

Yard sale
We had a yard sale, too! Almost complete forgot about that. It was the first time either of us had put on a yard sale and I think it went pretty well. We made around $500 and shifted a fair amount of stuff. Lance’s tools and toolboxes were definitely the most popular items. My clothing items and knitting stuff hardly got touched at all. Grateful to our neighborhood community for organizing the first ever West Haven/Medfield neighborhood yard sale, which definitely helped bring people in.
Cars for sale
Lance and I sold our cars as well. Lance’s 1999 Chevy Silverado stayed on Facebook Marketplace a little longer, but with help from super neighbor Jay, he sold it this weekend. After a nice detailing job, I put my Beemer on Facebook Marketplace around noon on Friday and managed to sell it at 1pm on Sunday. Fielding questions on Facebook Marketplace is a full time job as well, by the way.

Packing
This is probably the most stressful part of this whole process, although getting the house ready for photographs and showing is pretty stressful, too. We really had to push hard to finish packing the crates this week, and keep a good inventory for customs. We used two UPakWeShip U-Crate 100s and managed to stuff them pretty full including three bicycles, a toolbox, a guitar, gardening tools, wheel sets, and boxes of the usual stuff like clothes, photos, and utensils.
House for sale
Our house hit the market at 5pm on Wednesday, September 25th. Within 30 minutes, the first viewing request came through and there are three already lined up for Friday. Fingers crossed for a fast and fruitful sale! You can see the listing and book a viewing on Zillow.
Gratitude
Taing mhor (big thanks) to our realtor Patti Smith for helping us get the house on the market and easing our worries about any questions that came up. To ACE Hardware in Lugoff for mixing that paint for us and being so nice every time we came in (multiple times in the course of 3 days, you can imagine). To all the people, strangers and friends, who came by throughout the two weeks to say hi or pick up things we were selling or giving away. Big thanks to our neighbor Jay who’s been there in a heartbeat, from cutting our grass to shooting the shit to bringing us a screwdriver when Lance realized he’d already packed away all his tools.
Le gaol (with love in Scottish Gaelic),
~Fiona & Lance
