Brida’s back with us
Our dog Brida arrived around 10am on Saturday morning after being in transit from South Carolina since Tuesday. We are so happy to have her back with us, and after almost a week, she has settled right in. She’s enjoying her walks around here and is especially drawn to the hikes in the woods and up the mountain behind the house.

Lance also ordered a trailer for her, which will double as a trailer for us to transport things like groceries. I’m sure we’ll have some fun updates once we train Brida to ride in it!
Exploring the forestry roads
Lance got out on his gravel bike to explore the west side of Loch Eck. Check out his Strava ride + photos below.
Our mountain bikes arrived on Monday and Lance had them built up in a day so we ventured out on a loop of Glen Massan —> Loch Tarsan and back. Lance had issues with his electronic shifting right at the hardest bit, but we made it through and learned some of the areas close to us.
Swimming with the Cowal Bluetits
I did my first wild swim with another member of the Cowal Bluetits at Loch Eck. It’s a 5 mile ride to and from the meeting spot, and the water is cold so staying warm was really important for me. I brought hot tea with me for after the swim, and dried off as quickly as possible. It’s great to be able to swim with other people for comradery and safety. I look forward to more swims with the group soon!

Gratitude
Taing mhòr to Henry and Will at Summit Cycles in Columbia, SC for boxing up our bikes so well. Our mountain bikes arrived in perfect condition, ready for Lance to build up.
Moran taing to our families who’ve been supportive of our move here. It’s also great to hear your voices and get your texts <3
And thank you to all of the lovely people of Dunoon that we’ve met so far. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful as we learn how to use the bus, open bank accounts, get deliveries, etc. Dunoon is a really wonderful place.
Le gaol (with love in Scottish Gaelic),
